Wellbeing program

Each participant in The Buttery Private program develops their own wellbeing program to address individual issues.

It is developed in collaboration with their individual counsellor.

Emotional and psychological issues as well as physical issues are addressed. The importance of good nutrition, sleep and exercise are recognised as part of the healing process.

Agreed goals are set following a thorough assessment which commences before a person’s stay at The Buttery Private.

The program takes a solutions-focused approach. It is an experiential process focused on: change, setting goals and practising strategies to achieve those goals.

A range of therapeutic practices is brought into play to assist each individual address their issues and promote lasting wellbeing.

One-on-one and group counselling sessions with your counsellor help you understand the underlying causes of your issues and develop strategies to resolve them.

The Buttery Private program is evidence based.

It utilises current research on the neuroscience of trauma, anxiety and the brain’s response to threat.

It incorporates the principles of: Compassionate Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

This approach addresses the impact of the mind’s response to threat on our body, our sense of self and our relationships with others.

As well as the counselling program, a range of other therapies including yoga, meditation, mindfulness training, exercise, massage, and nutrition are employed with a focus on achieving long-term health and wellbeing.
